Merry Christmas Eve

I have spent all day away from my computer. It was painful. I just snuck away from decorating, cooking and wrapping presents to feed the addiction for a moment. Ahhh. Much better.

Have an awesome holiday to all the Christmas lovers out there!

Christmas and the Internet

I’m sitting here, listening to the Elf soundtrack, watching ridiculous amounts of snow fall outside of the New York office, and drinking chai tea. There also may or may not be a sequined, light up Santa hat on my head (read: there definitely IS a sequined, light up Santa hat on my head).

Besides the usual holiday cheer, this time of year has the ability to induce anxiety, stress, lack of funds, etc. from my normally calm self. I spent many a year running to the train station to buy tickets home, spending Christmas Eve pushing strollers out of my way to buy last minute presents, and experiencing a serious case of road rage while Bing Crosby is playing on the radio.

And then, my friends, there was the internet. The internet has saved Christmas! I had every Christmas gift bought and shipped directly to my family’s house by last week. Train ticket home is purchased with the confirmation sitting patiently on my desk. All is right with the world and my sanity is intact. Now, I did make one trip to the Bryant Park shops and to a lovely store close to work, but seriously, that’s it. Misery averted! Road rage averted! Angry glares at innocent children averted! Whew.

The internet is a Christmas miracle. It’s true. I hope the internet was able to make your holiday experience as pleasant as mine. And if not, remember this for next year. I promise it will be helpful. And that way, you can spend more time decorating a tree or making cookies or holiday partying like people are supposed to during this time of year.

Happy Holidays to you all, from me and the internet.

The N Train

So I get to take the N train right from my house to the Barbarian group offices. This is very exciting news, especially because it runs express. It’s the little things.
