Un-Representative Representatives

Over at Snarkmarket, Robin points a fun Washington Post article that imagines new ways to divide Senate seats . Here’s the income plan:

Imagine a chamber in which senators were elected by different income brackets—with two senators representing the poorest 2 percent of the electorate, two senators representing the richest 2 percent and so on.

Based on Census Bureau data, five senators would represent Americans earning between $100,000 and $1 million individually per year, with a single senator working on behalf of the millionaires (technically, it would be two-tenths of a senator). Eight senators would represent Americans with no income. Sixteen would represent Americans who make less than $10,000 a year, an amount well below the federal poverty line for families. The bulk of the senators would work on behalf of the middle class, with 34 representing Americans making $30,000 to $80,000 per year.

Obviously this won’t be happening anytime soon, but it definitely puts into perspective just how un-representative our representatives are.

I think that no senator would work for such low income, and if would that senator definitely would come from the sector that is less educated than ordinary high profile highly paid senators as we know them today - The first one would eventually have formal education from public resources educational background as the second wouldn't work for lousy money, and that definetely would affect governement policies -
What I mean is that senators usually coming from best universities which have different strategies in tutoring and preparing them for their jobs in the future, surely you'll agree that you wouldn't like to have a senator at the head of the state without at least Harward finished with excellent...
I don't want to discredit people with regular educational background, surely they have earned their degrees but considering the tradition at high profile universities and policies at it - these are definitely winning combinations in government making high profile personel. Imagine someone with Harward Degree in politics working for 10000 bucks a year - maybe if you add one more zero at it than perhaps.

Anyway, I like the subject - interesting question considering Human Resources and who would look better for nation interest - -those who have everything in life or those who live at the edge of poverty.
