PHP is a scripting language used primarily on Web Servers running the Apache HTTP server software. While uses for PHP are many, the core functionality is to provide a language and framework for the development of Web applications. As of November 2005, the reported usage of PHP was at nearly 18 million domains. Combined with Linux, the Apache HTTP server and the MySQL dtabase, PHP provides functionality to the great portion of the servers on the World Wide Web.
