Boston is where our headquarters are. It is still our largest office, though not by much.
Here are some recent posts from our employees about Boston:
My buddy Tim from Philadelphia has one of my favorite bands ever. Actually I really enjoy most things Tim does musically. I was cruising around youtube and found a video of him playing one of their songs, sound quality isn’t awesome but here it is!
If you haven’t gleaned from this video, Tim has major music chops. If you’re interested in further listening head over to their myspace page http://www.myspace.com/brownreclusesings
They’re on tour this summer, though I don’t know all the dates, google and I’m sure you can find stuff but they’re playing in Boston at pa’s lounge on may 24th.
edit to add: wow, little did i know but you can buy two of their EPs on iTunes The Soft Skin and Black Sunday
First week: 0 rapes, 0 pillages
So after diligently reading through The Barbarian Group Employee Manual™ I did what was asked and sent out an introductory email to all my new TBG colleagues. And immediately started a torrent of emails that discussed my newly acquired ACL, the NBA playoffs and the company etiquette of reply-all emails.
Nice way to start! :)
Seriously though, it’s been great so far. Everything’s pretty well organized (I say this now…), everyone’s super nice, and they even gave me a shiny new Macbook Pro to play with. Can’t complain!
Looking forward to start makings things awesome.
The New (Green) Monster on the Block.

People in the Boston office are a little obsessed with the Boston Apple Store opening, and who can blame them? Our company should be the spokes-er, company for Apple products. I think we own them all (including a Newton eMate). While us New York Barbarians have not one, not two, but THREE Apple Stores within striking distance (Including the Flagship 5th ave. Store and the beautiful new Meatpacking one, the one with the spiral glass staircase my girlfriend refuses to walk up), the folks in Boston have had to settle for an anemic Apple store in the bowels of a horrible mall.

New York
New York was the second Barbarian office. It is almost as ...
Now they get their own shiny new store, right next to our Boston office. (So close one of them set up a webcam to track its progress my mistake, it’s set up on the TechSuperpowers site.)
Now, I was pretty uninvolved in that excitement, but I gotta hand it to Apple – they know how to tap into a city’s soul and feed on it like a mosquito.

Walking across the harvard bridge towards the office. Beautiful night in Boston.
The Weather Curse
Similar to how weather will always be enjoyable during your work week and then nasty on your weekend, it is a known fact that the same will happen when you travel. In other words, you will always leave nice weather in your hometown for less pleasant weather in your destination city, only to have these trends reverse the second you return home.
Here’s the perfect proof:

So basically, us Boston folk that were in SF this week missed a beautiful week of sunny, mid- and hi-70 days at home. Upon our return to Boston, we will be greeted by a wonderfully overcast and cool weekend…. right when SF decides to break out the sunshine and 70s. Such is life.
The Greatest Band in Baseball.
So I started thinking – the Sox aren’t that far off from one of those 80’s rock bands you see on Behind The Music. Think about it: starting out, and for years sometimes, you have a band with a small but rabidly loyal fanbase that attends every show, buys any and all merchandise, and argues about your best shows and who heard of you first.
Tales from the T
I like to try to save the environment whenever it is convenient for me so sometimes we take Logan on the T instead of driving to daycare. Yesterday was sunny and warm so I felt I was making the right decision to take public transportation. Unfortunately babies on the T are magnets for weirdos and yesterday we attracted a fun one.
Scott and I were standing next to the door on the Red Line (the side that doesn’t open up at every stop), trying to keep the stroller out of everyone’s way. A seemingly normal looking dude squeezed his way in next to us and began to read a book. I went back to distracting Logan until he screams loud enough for everyone in the car to hear “what’s the little one’s name?” I cringed as I knew that based on how loud he was talking this was going to be an interesting conversation.
me – Logan
Crazy Dude – Really? (laughing) Like the airport?
me, responding quietly – not named after the airport, but yes that is how it is spelled
Crazy Dude, increasing in volume – what is he named after?
me – she is named after a bottle of wine
Crazy Dude, screaming – she? really? Ohhh-K
If he wasn’t crazy I would have taken his kneecaps out at this point. He then proceeded to claim that it was funny we named her Logan after wine because of some book called Mr. Gordons. He asked if we got it. We told him we didn’t. He explained “Gordon’s like the vodka.” I wanted to correct him and tell him Gordon’s was a Gin and that he still didn’t make any sense but I figured it was pointless as he was crazy after all. Thankfully we had reached our stop and today we decided against taking the T. Sorry Earth.
